MK's Nappi knocks in five runs for Gold

MONTVILLE _ Morris Knolls' Gina Nappi was loose and thrilled to be reunited with Amanda Magadan and Anna Carlson, her former teammates on the Morris County Belles 12-And-Under Team.

In between catching up with Magadan of Randolph and Carlson of Jefferson, Nappi made four trips to the batter's box as a member of the Gold Team in the Sixth Annual Morris County Senior Softball All-Star Game.

Emotion fueled Hanover Park's journey

Hanover Park's Sam Snyder scattered seven hits and struck out five in the Group II final.

TOMS RIVER _ The players on the Hanover Park softball team, even at a young age, possessed a high level of talent.

The Hornets also had something else - a super-sized amount of heart - and that intangible, which many squads lack, has brought them a significant amount of success.

MCGSCA honors top players

Courtney Chase of West Morris sat out her junior year of softball to play AAU basketball. In the slideshow photo, the always exuberant Chase, right, celebrates an upset victory over Pequannock in the MCT.

MOUNTAIN LAKES _ Courtney Chase made a promise and the West Morris High School softball team is grateful she kept it.

That meant Chase, following a one-season hiatus in which she devoted herself to AAU basketball, returned to play right field for the Wolfpack.

Hanover Park headed to Group II final

Hanover Park shortstop Nicole Fernicola tagged out a Mahwah runner attempting to steal in the second inning. Hornets catcher Danielle Politi made the throw.

BLOOMFIELD _ The Hanover Park softball team's pre-game meal was the usual - shrimp scampi pizza at The Godfather Brick Oven.

After eating, the Hornets, known to be superstitious, departed for their Group II semifinal against Mahwah.
