PARSIPPANY _ Montville's seventh grade and Pee Wee teams captured their divisions at the Selena Fulmore Memorial Tournament held from March 9 to 18 at Central Middle School.

Over its last three games at the tournament, Montville had only five players due to injuries. Still, the Broncos went 4-1. They defeated West Essex 33-28 in their final game.

The five girls who were on the court for every minute were Laurel Alin, Jane Beiermeister, Alessandra Guarnieri, Lauren Minardi and Victoria Montemorano.

The Pee Wee squad also closed out the tournament with a victory over West Essex.

"We're very happy about winning," said Joe Henderson, coach of the Montville Pee Wees. "The girls have progressed so much since the beginning of the season. They battle even when the chips are down."

Frederick Douglass got the better of the host Pacers to take top honors in the varsity division.

The Pacers finished 30-6 and lost to only one New Jersey team.

Montville was runner-up in the fifth and sixth grade division, falling to Frederick Douglass.

Twenty-two teams competed in the tournament.
