Danias, Rams advance in MCT

Lindsay Danias drove in two runs with a double and Kristen Lindquist and Michelle McMillan each had an RBI when Randolph defeated Montville 4-3 in a Morris County Tournament preliminary-round game on Sunday, April 24.

Lindquist and Amanda Downtain had two hits apiece for the 15th-seeded Rams, who scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Lindquist went six innings, striking out three and walking two.

Dawn Holmes had two RBIs and Izzy Bressman had two hits for No. 18 Montville. 

Roxbury 15, Boonton 1

Katlyn Lloyd, a senior shortstop, singled and homered to power 11th-seeded Roxbury past No. 22 Boonton in MCT preliminary-round action on Saturday, April 23.

Lloyd drove in three runs and scored twice for the Gaels. Three runs also were knocked in by Natalie Decena, who had a double. Vanessa Dash ended with two RBIs. Winning pitcher Emily Song gave up four hits and struck out six.

Elena Runfeldt had two hits for the Bombers. Carly McDaniel and Jordyn Ferrante had one hit apiece for Boonton.

Morris Catholic 6, Morris Tech 0

Grace Stairiker's four-hitter and Sam Denboske's three RBIs spurred the Crusaders, seeded 14th, past Morris Tech in MCT play on Saturday, April 23.

Stairiker struck out six and Denboskie had three hits for Morris Catholic (7-6).

Another top hitter was Julia Rossetto, who had three its and knocked in a run. Katie Forte contributed two hits and had an RBI.

Madison 8, Morris Hills 6 (8 inn.)

The 17th-seeded Dodgers, buoyed by Mitra Sharif's three hits and one RBI, defeated No. 16 Morris Hills in a MCT preliminary-round game on Saturday, April 23.

One of Sharif's hits was a home run. Taylor Camp had a two-run single for Madison in support of winning pitcher Caitlyn Massaro. Massaro helped herself by knocking in two runs.

For Morris Hills, Kiara Ruiz rapped out three singles and drove in two runs. 

Kinnelon 5, Dover 0

Sierra Jacko and Samantha MacMullen had a combined three-hitter to send eighth-seeded Kinnelon to a win over No. 25 Dover in MCT preliminary-round action on Thursday, April 21.

Jacko went the first two innings and struck out four. MacMullen struck out four and allowed one hit over the last five innings.

Madison Ledwith drove in two runs and had a stolen base for the Colts (8-3). Alexa Saccomanno and Sara Schotanus knocked in a run apiece. Dover's hits were by Chelsea Estacio, Bryanna Parga and Leyri Rivera.

Morristown-Beard 4, Parsippany Hills 0

Sara Seuffert surrendered four hits and was backed by a nine-hit attack when the 12th-seeded Crimson shut out Parsippany Hills in a MCT preliminary-round game on Thursday, April 21.

Seuffert struck out five and walked one for Morristown-Beard (7-4). Seuffert aided her cause with three hits.

Zoe Grebin and Sophia Gallant had two hits each for the Crimson. Lauren Conway had two RBIs. Gallant also knocked in a run.

Parsippany 13, West Morris 3

The Red Hawks won their fifth game in a row behind the hitting of center fielder Meg Leitner.

Leitner doubled twice and slugged a home run to highlight Parsippany's MCT preliminary-round victory over West Morris on Thursday, April 21. She finished with five RBIs.

Luisa Barone had three hits, one of them a double, and scored three times for No. 9 Parsippany (10-4). Hannah Lindert singled, doubled and had an RBI for the 24th-seeded Wolfpack.

Morris Knolls 12, St. Elizabeth 0

The sixth-seeded Golden Eagles improved to 9-2 with an MCT win over St. Elizabeth on Thursday, April 21.

Morris Knolls has won seven of its last eight games.

In the first round of the MCT, the Golden Eagles will meet the winner of Roxbury-Boonton.

Pequannock 19, Mountain Lakes 0 (5 inn.)

Jonalynn McClain allowed one hit and struck out 11 to pace the seventh-seeded Golden Panthers (9-4-1) to an MCT preliminary-round win on Thursday, April 21.

Pequannock's offense was led by Carly Klimek (4 for 4, two RBIs), Hannah Brizek (2 for 2, 2B, 3 RBIs), Val Florio (2 RBIs, 3 runs) and Taylor Van Sant (3 for 4, 2 RBIs).

The Golden Panthers built a 10-0 lead in three innings.

Mendham 8, Villa Walsh 0

Sophomore Julia Buckley tossed a no-hitter to lead the No. 10 Minutemen past Villa Walsh in MCT preliminary-round action on Thursday, April 21.

Buckley struck out seven and walked two.

Top hitters for Mendham included Courtney Gionco (2 for 3, 3B, 2 RBIs) and Nikki Surella, who had an RBI. 

Jefferson 1, Mount Olive 0

The Falcons (11-1) scored the only run of this regular season game in the fifth inning on Chelsea Bitondo's double.

Isabel Seise had two of Jefferson's six hits. Sophomore Alexa Pettit picked up the pitching victory with a two-hitter. Pettit struck out four and walked one.

Haley LeBouef and Elise Enslin had hits for the Marauders.

Morris Hills 12, Morristown 2

Beth Kehrley rapped out four hits and knocked in a run to help the Scarlet Knights defeat Morristown on Thursday, April 21.

Kat Rewick had three hits.

Meghan Acampora ended with three hits for the Colonials.

Hanover Park 3, Roxbury 2

Maddie McLaughlin's RBI single in the sixth inning plated the winning run for the Hornets on Thursday, April 21.

Amy and Nicole Petrovich and Melissa Zweigbaum had a hit apiece for Hanover Park (10-1).

Hailey Womer had a hit and drove in two runs for the Gaels.

Morris Knolls 6, Roxbury 2

Jess Heitmann had three hits, scored twice and drove in a run to boost Morris Knolls to a win over Roxbury on Wednesday, April 20.

The Golden Eagles went up 1-0 in the third inning on an error and made it 2-0 an inning later on Rachel Sweetser's RBI base hit. The Gaels (5-5) made it 2-1 in the lower half of the fourth on Vanessa Dash's groundout. Morgan DeLoreto, Carly Shaw and Heitmann had RBI singles over the last three innings for Morris Knolls (8-2). The sixth run was plated on an error.

Brooke Wiarda picked up the pitching victory with six strikeouts and a walk. She gave up seven hits.

Butler 4, Whippany Park 0

Alli DePuyt went 3 for 3 with two RBIs to help the Bulldogs to a shutout win over Whippany Park on Wednesday, April 20.

Kayla Carr added two hits, one of them a double. Aleks Apkarian and Erin McFall also knocked in runs for Butler.

Winning pitcher Larissa Spellman went the distance, striking out 15 and walking one.

Parsippany 10, Morristown-Beard 2

A 4-for-4 showing at the plate by Julia DelViscio sparked the Red Hawks on Wednesday, April 20.

DelViscio knocked in a run and doubled. Luisa Barone had two hits, scored three times and drove in a run for Parsippany (9-4). Caitlin Brennan went the first five innings, striking out six and walking three, before giving way to Carly Homler.

Sara Seuffert had two hits for the Crimson (6-4).

Chatham 3, Montville 0

Melissa Landry fired a two-hitter and struck out eight to lead the Cougars on Wednesday, April 20.

Anna Lengner had two hits for Chatham (11-2). Hallie Pellegrin doubled and drove in a run for the winners.

Montville's hits came off the bats of Izzy Bressman and Madison Hill.

Pequannock 10, Kinnelon 3

Taylor Van Sant had a big day at the plate, going 2 for 4, including a double, and knocking in three runs for Pequannock when it defeated the Colts on Wednesday, April 20.

Carly Klimek (2 hits) and Juliette Davis (two RBIs) also aided Pequannock's attack. Hannah Brizek struck out eight and allowed three hits for Pequannock (8-4-1).

For Kinnelon, Emily Kapr, Jenna Meluso and Alexa Saccomanno had hits. Kapr and Saccomanno each doubled and knocked in a run.

Parsippany 9, Mount Olive 4

Parsippany took a 7-0 lead after two innings and defeated Mount Olive 9-4 on Tuesday, April 19.

Sarah Waffenfield and Caitlin Brennan had two hits and two RBIs apiece to spark the attack for the Red Hawks (8-4). Brennan was the winning pitcher, striking out seven, walking three and yielding four hits.

Alyssa Borozan had one of four hits for Mount Olive (8-3).

Hanover Park 14, Columbia 1

Alex Cosenzo had two hits and knocked in four runs to highlight the Hornets' win over Columbia on Tuesday, April 19.

Nicole Petrovich and Melissa Zweigbaum had two hits and two RBIs each.

Jessica Miller scattered five hits and struck out eight to boost her pitching record to 6-1.

Chatham 6, Morris Catholic 1

Chatham's offense was led by Bonnie Kennedy ( 3 for 4) and Morgan Pellegrin (2 for 3, 3 RBIs) in a triumph over the Crusaders on Tuesday, April 19.

Anna Lengner helped herself with two hits. Lengner had seven strikeouts while pitching a four-hitter.

Grace Stairiker had two hits for Morris Catholic.

Kittatinny 10, Montville 4

Jordan Strickland went 4 for 5 with an RBI but Montville fell to Kittatinny on Tuesday, April 19.

Kittatinny's Calli VanGorden also had four hits. Van Gorden finished with four RBIs.

Allison Westra added two hits and two RBIs for the winners.

Morris Knolls 6, Parsippany Hills 4

Back-to-back doubles by Allie Schey and Morgan DeLoreto broke a 4-4 deadlock in the seventh inning and paced Morris Knolls to a 6-4 win over Parsippany Hills on Monday, April 18.

Bre O'Shea's RBI base hit followed the doubles and drove in the sixth run for the Golden Eagles.

Nicole Reilly was the winning pitcher. Reilly surrendered one hit in two-plus innings of relief and had four strikeouts.

Butler 2, Lodi Immaculate 1

Taylor Russnak doubled in the decisive run for Butler in the sixth inning and senior right-hander Larissa Spellman tossed a four-hitter and struck out 14 to pace the Bulldogs on Monday, April 18.

Kayla Carr tripled, singled and knocked in the other run for the Bulldogs.

Spellman and Carr scored Butler's runs.

Hanover Park 12, Villa Walsh 2

Alex Cosenzo rapped out three hits and knocked in two runs to propel the Hornets past Villa Walsh on Monday, April 18.

Amy Petrovich also had a big day at the plate, driving in four runs. Nikkiann Giaimo and Maddie McLaughlin contributed two RBIs apiece.

Shea McGuire and Paige Saybe knocked in runs for the Vikings.

Roxbury 8, Randolph 3

Madison Amdur had two hits and an RBI to spur the Gaels on Monday, April 18.

Kayla Corrente knocked in a run for Roxbury, which evened its record at 5-5.

The Rams received two hits and an RBI from Michelle McMillan.

Jefferson 2, Hopatcong 1

Dianna Gatto had two hits and knocked in a run for the once-beaten Falcons on Monday, April 18.

Isabel Seise had a hit, a walk and a stolen base to contribute to Jefferson's offense.

Morgan Carr struck out five and walked three to earn the pitching victory.

Pope John 11, Morristown 0

The Lions, fueled by Gabby Bubba's four-hitter and Jess Whittam's bat, blanked Morristown on Monday, April 18.

Bubba went the distance in the circle, striking out two and walking two.

Whittam went 2 for 4, including a double, and had three RBIs. Brianna Lehr drove in two runs for Pope John.
