Roxbury blanks Wildcats

Giovanna Harrigan and Emma Karnitsky had a goal apiece when Roxbury blanked Whippany Park 2-0 in a Morris County Tournament first-round game on Saturday, Oct. 1.

Jaymie Fiebel had an assist for the No. 5 Gaels (8-2-1).

Whippany Park goalie Hannah Klein finished with eight saves.

Madison 8, Butler 0

The defending champion Dodgers (6-1) rode Elizabeth Romano's hat trick to a MCT first-round shutout over 14th-seeded Butler on Saturday, Oct. 1.

Jennifer Conroy, Sydney Fielding, Sage Geyer, Gillian Parrett and Margaret Sheeleigh also had goals for No. 3 Madison.

Geyer also set up a pair of goals for the Dodgers, slated to meet Mount Olive in the quarterfinals.

West Morris 7, Morristown-Beard 1

The first career hat trick by Sarah Bietka, a freshman forward, propelled the Wolfpack (9-1) in MCT opening-round action on Saturday, Oct. 1.

Faith Spaziano contributed two goals and two assists for West Morris.

Sam Hutchinson had the Crimson's goal.

Whippany Park 4, Morris Hills 0

Whippany Park, led by Alexa Marzullo's hat trick, triumphed over Morris Hills in its Morris County Tournament preliminary-round game on Thursday, Sept. 29.

Sara D'Egidio also scored for the Wildcats, who will meet No. 5 Roxbury in the first round.

Shannon Breen stopped three shots on goal for Whippany Park.

Newton 2, High Point 1

Nikki Rizzo's second goal snapped a 1-1 deadlock with 3:45 remaining in overtime and boosted Newton to victory over High Point on Wednesday, Sept. 28.

Rizzo also had a first-half score for the Braves, unbeaten after eight games. Melissa Way converted for High Point (5-3-1) in the second half.

Brittany McKenna finished with eight saves for High Point. The Wildcats had four stick saves.

Jefferson 1, Morris Knolls 0

No. 13 Jefferson, fueled by Carly Wurster's goal, edged 20th-seeded Morris Knolls in Morris County Tournament preliminary-round action on Wednesday, Sept. 28.

Daniella Anthony set up Wurster's score.

Falcons goalie Joanna Szpernoga ended with six saves. Golden Eagles goalie Reilly Anderson turned back three shots.

Butler 1, St. Elizabeth 0 (OT)

Rachel Stevens connected three minutes into the extra period to send the No. 14 Bulldogs past St. Elizabeth in MCT play on Wednesday, Sept. 28.

Stevens' goal was set up by Samantha Beck.

Erin McFall, Butler's goalie, came up with four saves.

Morristown-Beard 5, Boonton 0

The Crimson, buoyed by two-goal performances by Sam Hutchinson and Jenna Pych, shut out the Bombers in a MCT preliminary-round game on Wednesday, Sept. 28.

Also scoring for Morristown-Beard was Mattison Tatulli.

Crimson goalie Mackenzie May needed only three saves to notch the shutout.

Mendham 4, Parsippany Hills 1

Juliana Bernt had a pair of goals to highlight the Minutemen's MCT preliminary-round win over the Vikings on Wednesday, Sept. 28.

No. 15 Mendham also received goals from Olivia Coleman and Elizabeth Audino.

Parsippany Hills' goal came off the stick of Brittany Bonin.

West Morris 6, Randolph 0

Once-beaten West Morris blanked the Rams with the help of two goals each by freshman Sarah Bietka and Skylar Migliaccio on Wednesday, Sept. 28 in a regular season game.

Faith Spaziano picked up a pair of assists for the Wolfpack.

Emily Egan gained the shutout in goal with eight saves.

Mountain Lakes 3, Parsippany 0

Goals by Isabella Fragomeni, Macara Desai and Isabel Schuckman propelled the Lakers past the Red Hawks on Wednesday, Sept. 28 in regular season action.

Schuckman and Shalom Kercher had assists for Mountain Lakes, which led 2-0 at halftime.

The Lakers (5-2-1) had five shots on goal.

Lakers nip Mo-Beard in OT
