Hannah Brizek singled, homered and knocked in three runs to pace third-seeded Pequannock to an 8-2 win over Mount Olive in Morris County Tournament quarterfinal-round action on Saturday, April 29.
Another offensive standout was Mary Fahey, who had a two-run base hit for the Golden Panthers.
Jonnalyn McClain surrendered five hits and gave up an unearned run to the sixth-seeded Marauders. McClain came through at the plate as well, contributing two hits and an RBI to Pequannock's eight-hit attack. Kayla Karaty added a hit and knocked in a run.
Alyssa Borozan got the 100th hit of her career in the seventh inning, singling to center field with one out.
Pequannock (15-4) advances to the semifinals and will meet seventh-seeded Parsippany on Saturday, May 6 at Landing Park.
Chatham 3, Hanover Park 2
The Cougars scored the decisive run, snapping a 2-2 deadlock, with a fielder's choice in the bottom of the seventh inning in a MCT quarterfinal-round game on Saturday, April 29.
Hallie Pellegrin started off the seventh inning with a double for No. 4 Chatham, which trailed by a run. A single by Kelly Krincek ensued. Morgan Tobin's squeeze bunt made it 2-2.
Morgan Pellegrin was the lone Chatham player to get two hits. Senior right-hander Melissa Landry was the winning pitcher, striking out six and walking one. Landry yielded three hits.
Hanover Park was led by Amanda Bermel, who had a pair of hits and two RBIs. Melissa Zweigbaum had the Hornets' other hit.
Top-seeded Morris Knolls will be Chatham's opponent in the semifinals, which are scheduled for Saturday, May 6 at Landing Park.
