Cougars, Lakers triumph in lacrosse semis

Hat tricks by Grainger Rosati, Rachel Treweeke and Hannah Cronk lifted Mountain Lakes to a 13-9 triumph over Mendham in the semifinal round of the Morris County Tournament on Thursday, May 7.

Sarah Bedard scored twice and Natalie LaBeau and Charley Orner also connected for the defending champion Lakers (9-8). Mountain Lakes, the second seed, took control early and built an 8-1 advantage at the half.

Carrie Speicher scored four goals and Christine Long fired a hat trick for the third-seeded Minutemen (8-9).

Chatham 16, Morristown 10

Bridget Ballard had four goals and three assists Abby Morgan registered a hat trick for the Cougars (9-6) in a MCT semifinal on Thursday, May 7.

Emily Wingate had two goals and three assists and Kristin Maiorano and Schuyler Bixby each scored twice.

Allie Ferrara, who had not played for three weeks because of an ankle injury, had four goals and an assist and Maddy Heher scored twice for the Colonials (12-6) in their first MCT semifinal performance.

Chatham led 10-8 at the half and tightened up its defensive effort in the second half. It is the second consecutive year the Cougars have reached the title game.

Regular season

Scotch Plains Fanwood 9, Morristown-Beard 7

Alissa Masini scored five goals for the Crimson.

West Milford 17, St. Elizabeth 5

Julia Darcy scored three goals and Emilia Scutaro scored twice for the Panthers.

Jefferson 16, Morris Hills 6

The Falcons had a 9-1 second-half run. Danielle Pickard scored four times and Julia Grilca and Kendra Nolan had hat tricks for Jefferson. Kellyann Gangaware fired a hat trick for the Scarlet Knights.

Millburn 13, Boonton 1

Chelsea Davis connected for the Bombers.

Passaic Valley 14, Park Regional 10

Jordan Sanislo scored four goals for Park (1-12).
