Lakers rule North Group I

For three consecutive years, the Lakers and Ridgers have battled it out in the North Group I final.

This time, the Lakers emerged as winners by a score of 18-11. Meghan Ryan scored five goals, Maddie Siebold had four goals and two assists and Jackie Perry scored four goals to lift the Lakers.

Mountain Lakes will  face Oak Knoll on Saturday, June 1 at Kean University for the Group I title.

Allie LaBeau and Meredith Newfrock each had two goals and one assist for the top-seeded Lakers (19-1).

Mountain Lakes took control early and  built a 13-3 halftime margin. The Ridgers (15-8) built some momentum in the second half but never got within six goals of the Lakers. Kendall Smith led Glen Ridge with four goals.

North Group II final

Summit 9, Chatham 8

The Hilltoppers prevailed despite a spectacular performance by Cougars senior goalkeeper Hannah Reader.

Reader made 12 saves and kept Chatham in the game. Lauren Maiorano scored three goals, Bridget Ballard scored twice  and Kelcie Ehler, Kristen Maiorano and Maggie O'Neill also connected for the defending Group II champion Cougars (10-9).

Summit (17-4) is coached by former West Morris coach Mike Walsh.

Roxbury 13, Fair Lawn 2

Joelle Manganella scored a career-high eight goals, including the 100th of her career, to highlight Roxbury's 13-2 victory over Fair Lawn on Monday, May 13.

The Gaels' other goals were by Kayla Lucia, Emily Guderian, Kelsey Ryan, Amanda Beal and Katie Cikovsky. Ryan's goal was the first of her career.

Megann Sanderson had eight saves for Roxbury. Rachel Gruber had 15 saves for Fair Lawn, which received both of its goals from Erica Bogart.

Mountain Lakes 16, Villa Walsh 4

Mountain Lakes, behind four goals by Jackie Perry, took control early and led 12-1 at the half en route to a victory over Villa Walsh in Morris County Tournament quarterfinal action on Tuesday, May 7.

The top-seeded Lakers, who received a hat trick and three assists from Allie LaBeau and three goals from Victoria Kalamaras, will face Kinnelon in the second game of Thursday's semifinal doubleheader at Roxbury High School.

Villa Walsh (11-3) got goals from Taylor Medd, Candace Pallitto, Jess Racanelli and Lucia Smircich. The win lifts the Lakers to 12-1.

Kinnelon 14, West Morris 13

Virginia Annaheim scored twice, including the game-winning goal late in the contest, when the Colts edged the Wolfpack in a MCT quarterfinal on Tuesday, May 7.

Heidi Annaheim scored six goals and Nicole Belanger had five assists for the fifth-seeded Colts (5-9).

Paige Burton had three goals and two assists for fourth-seeded West Morris (4-10).

Mendham 19, Morristown 4

Christine Graziano scored seven goals and Gia Padavano had five goals and four assists to lift the second-seeded Minutemen in MCT quarterfinal play on Tuesday, May 7.

Mendham took control early and went up 14-1 at halftime. Christie Long contributed four assists for Mendham (10-4). Allie Ferrara scored twice for 10th-seeded Morristown (10-3).

Mendham faces Chatham in a semifinal battle of last year's finalists on Thursday, May 9 in the 5 p.m. game of the doubleheader.

Morristown 12, Madison 10

Sophomore Meghan Siverson had five goals and two assists to lead Morristown to an of Madison in Morris County Tournament girls lacrosse action on Saturday, May 4.

Casey O'Brien and Allie Ferrara had two goals and one assist each in the closely-contested game.

Michelle Montagna had five goals and snagged seven ground balls and Rachel Azzolini scored twice for the seventh-seeded Dodgers (11-4).

The victory advances the 10th-seeded Colonials (10-2) to play second-seeded Mendham in the quarterfinal round.

Villa Walsh 12, Montville 10

Taylor Medd had four goals and Candace Pallitto had two goals and one assist to fuel the Vikings' narrow MCT victory on Saturday, May 4.

Jill Racanelli and Kelly Holt added two goals apiece for eighth-seeded Villa Walsh, which will meet top-seeded Mountain Lakes next.

Abby Haimson had four goals and one assist and Ashley Bello added four goals for Montville. Carly DeNigris and Julia LoBosso each added a goal for the ninth-seeded Mustangs (7-6).

Chatham 17, Jefferson 2

Maddy Bowles has five goals and one assist and Kristen Maiorano fired a hat trick in the Cougars' MCT triumph on Saturday, May 4.

Chatham, the defending MCT champion, led 13-1 at the half. Bridget Ballard, Kennedy Krause and Maggy O'Neill scored two goals apiece for third-seeded Chatham (6-7).

The Cougars advance to play Morris Knolls in the quarterfinal round. Kara Hodapp scored twice for the 14th-seeded Falcons (14-2).

Kinnelon 16, Pequannock 2

The fifth-seeded Colts (4-9) advance to play fourth-seeded West Morris in the quarterfinal round.

Pequannock, the 12th seed, drops to 6-8 on the season.

Regular season

Livingston 17, St. Elizabeth 6

Carolyn Byrnes registered a hat trick and Julia Darcy scored twice for the Panthers (6-8) when they fell to Livingston.
