Villa Walsh nips Newark Academy

Alyssa Yarosz's first-half goal proved to be the gamewinner when Villa Walsh triumphed over Newark Academy 1-0 in North Non-Public B state tournament action on Friday, Nov. 7.

Colleen Brennan earned the shutout in goal with three saves.

Villa Walsh travels to play Morris Catholic next.

Morris Catholic 4, Eastern Christian 0

Jillian Sudo scored twice and Sarah Racine and Emily Schum added goals for the Crusaders in this North Non-Public B game on Friday, Nov. 7.

Morris Catholic jumped out to a 3-0 halftime advantage.

Loren Hapanowicz earned the shutout on four saves.

Pequannock 3, Glen Rock 2

Hannah Daley had a goal and an assist and Carly Klimek and Jen McRogan scored goals for the Golden Panthers (17-4-1) in a North Jersey Section 1, Group II game on Friday, Nov. 7.

Kristen Aikey and Jenna Goodwin also contributed assists for Pequannock.

The Golden Panthers play the winner of Ramapo-Mahwah next.

Madison 4, Hackettstown 0

Ali Waxgiser scored two goals and had one assist and Mackaella Goodwin and Sydney Strelec added goals for the Dodgers in a North Jersey Section 2, Group II game.

Kristina Qualben stopped six shots to earn the shutout for Madison.

The Dodgers play host to Bernards in the next round.

Bernards 1, Whippany Park 0

A first-half goal by Montana Sutton lifted the Mountaineers in North Jersey Section 2, Group II action.

Goalie Kate Matrisciano stopped five shots for the Wildcats.

Gianna Parlavecchio scored twice and Maggie Pescatore and Jackie Larsen scored goals for the Hornets.

Hanover Park advances and will meet Morris Tech.

First-half goals by Kim Kostrowski and Taylor Rondanini provided the difference for the Devils.

North 2, Group III

Roxbury 2, Chatham 0

Paige Monaghan and Andrea Arias each scored off feeds by Ryelle Sansone in the Gaels' North Jersey Section 2, Group III triumph.

Roxbury (16-2-1) faces Somerville in the next round.

West Morris 4, Cranford 2

The Wolfpack rallied with three second-half goals and prevailed in this North Jersey Section 2, Group III game.

Brooke Carty fired a hat trick and Cassandra Montgomery added a goal for West Morris. The Wolfpack hosts Nutley in the next round.

Newton 6, Jefferson 1

Kayleigh Furth had a hat trick when Newton defeated Jefferson in North Jersey, Section 1, Group II opening-round action on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Alyssa Cronin added two goals and an assist for the Braves, who will oppose River Dell in the next round. Kat Scheerer contributed a goal and two assists and Carly Zdanek set up two goals for Newton, the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Tournament runner-up.

Ashley Hutchinson tallied for the Falcons.

Morris Hills 1, Tenafly 0

Frankie Perna scored off an Emily Vitale feed to lift the Scarlet Knights in North Jersey Section 1, Group III play on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Elizabeth Hills stopped eight shots for sixth-seeded Morris Hills.

The Scarlet Knights travel to Old Tappan for a state quarterfinal.

Demarest 2, Montville 1

Amanda Murolo connected for the Mustangs in this North Jersey Section 1, Group III game on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Mountain Lakes 2, Hasbrouck Heights 0

The 14th-seeded Lakers pulled off a shocker on Tuesday, Nov. 4, shutting out Hasbrouck Heights in a North Jersey Section 1, Group I game.

Sydnie Savarese scored twice and Lauren Atkins and Sarah Monteleone registered

Mountain Lakes advances to play Kinnelon on Friday, Nov. 7.

Kinnelon 1, Wallkill Valley 0

The Colts scored the game's lone goal in the first half. Sam Van Zile scored off a Casey Gray assist.

Emily Kapr earned the shutout with two saves in this North Jersey Section 1, Group I game.

Paige Monaghan had a goal and three assists and six other players scored for the Gaels in North Jersey Section 2, Group III action on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Cassandra Montgomery had a goal and two assists for West Morris. The Wolfpack will play host to Cranford next.

North 2, Group II

Whippany Park 4, West Essex 0

Silvana Poulter scored twice and Katie Cantrell and Tania Bilanych added goals for the Wildcats in North Jersey Section 2, Group II play on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Kate Matrisciano gained a shutout on seven saves for Whippany Park, which will take on Bernards in the quarterfinal round.

Hanover Park 2, Parsippany 1

In North Jersey Section 2, Group II, the Hornets prevailed on goals by Alexandra DeRiggi and Anna Lazur.

Haley Pignatelli connected for the Red Hawks. Hanover Park faces surprising 14th-seeded Caldwell next.

Morris Tech 2, Fort Lee 0

Mary Jo Anzano and Alexis Gartside connected for the Devils in this state tournament matchup.

Morris Tech will play host to Rutherford in the second round.

Caldwell 2, Parsippany Hills 1

Parsippany Hills' goal came off the foot of Sally Campuzano.

Krissy Baxter had the assist.
